New Traffic Signals Save Energy, Enhance Efficiency

Utilizing funds from the New York State Department of Transportation, the City is installing new, semi-automated LED traffic signals at four heavily-trafficked intersections: Pinebrook at Albert Leonard, Pinebrook at Tulip, North Avenue at Calton, and North Avenue at Braemar/Broadview. The new signals use much less energy than the models they replace and feature technology to better monitor and regulate traffic flow. These locations were selected by our professional engineering staff. The City has already completed signal replacements in other neighborhoods, principally in conjunction with streetscape projects.
