I just sent the following message citywide.  Special thanks to our emergency responders for their heroic work.  My thoughts are with all impacted by last night’s storm.

This is the City of New Rochelle with a storm recovery update.

Para espanol, oprima numero uno.

Last night’s record-breaking rainfall resulted in widespread flooding throughout our region.

Today, several local roads remain obstructed because of abandoned vehicles or damaged pavement. The City is working to address these conditions, but, for now, we advise residents to avoid unnecessary travel and to use caution when driving.

About 1,000 New Rochelle households do not have power. Con Edison is assessing damage and assigning crews to repairs, but does not yet have a restoration timetable. To report a power outage, please contact Con Ed at 1-800-75-CONED or coned.com.

In addition, optimum service is down for about 50,000 households throughout the sound shore area. Alltice is working to restore Internet and communications access as quickly as possible.

We advise residents to document private property damage and to contact their insurance companies. The City will share information about potential assistance if and when a federal disaster is declared.

Finally, we thank our First Responders and DPW teams for their hard – and, in some cases, life-saving – work throughout last night and going into this weekend.

For more information, visit newrochelleny.com/stormupdates or the City’s social media accounts. Additional bulletins will follow, as warranted.

This has been Mayor Noam Bramson.  Thank you for listening.
