Following is today’s citywide storm recovery message. DPW will continue to operate on extended hours through the weekend, but backups at regional transfer stations are slowing down collection operations. More detail in the robocall below.
This is the City of New Rochelle with storm recovery information for Thursday, September 9.
Para espanol, oprima numero uno.
First, an update on trash and debris removal. DPW is operating on extended hours and will continue to collect waste through the weekend. Unfortunately, regional transfer stations are overwhelmed, which means each truck must wait hours in order to dispose of its waste before returning to the field to collect more. This is significantly delaying operations.
As a result, this week’s paper recycling pick-up may take several days to complete. Please keep your paper at the curb, and it will eventually be collected.
As requested yesterday, if you were not impacted by flooding, then, if possible, please do not put out standard household and kitchen waste this week. Limiting the waste stream will be a big help to our recovery efforts.
Construction and demolition debris, such as building materials, drywall, and lumber, will be picked up separately. If you have construction debris, to ensure it is collected, please call DPW at 914-235-4654. Detailed information about proper disposal of different items is available at newrochelleny.com/DPW.
