National Bank Building

With dramatic redevelopment of our downtown underway, it’s important for New Rochelle to preserve older buildings with special historical and architectural significance.  So I am pleased that two new local landmark designations are on the way for distinctive structures at the corner of Main and Lecount (the former Masonic Lodge) and the corner of Main and Lawton (the former National City Bank.)

Formal action by the City Council is anticipated for both designations following a public hearing next month.  Several other downtown properties are currently under review by the City Historian, with additional landmark designations likely later this year.
