New York State has lifted the yellow zone in New Rochelle, but that is no reason to let down our guard. A few moments ago, I sent the following message citywide.

Yesterday, New York State lifted the yellow zone in New Rochelle. While this is welcome news, COVID rates remain high, with nearly 1,000 active cases in our city and with a more contagious variant beginning to spread nationally. Moreover, statewide COVID restrictions still apply. In short, this is not the time to let down our guard. Please continue to act responsibly by wearing a mask, washing your hands, keeping your distance, and avoiding large gatherings.
The vaccination process is underway and eligibility continues for anyone aged 65 and older, along with first responders, teachers, health care providers, and other essential workers. Because of limited supply, however, most vaccination sites are not taking appointments, which is frustrating. As supply increases, we expect the vaccination process to become more accessible and predictable. For now, please be patient and persistent.
