On Monday, New York State will open a new walk-in coronavirus testing center here in New Rochelle on Lockwood Avenue, across the street from Montefiore Hospital. Tomorrow’s hours are 12:00pm to 5:00pm. Thereafter, the center will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Appointments are required, so to schedule a test, please call the State hotline at 1-888-364-3065. Anyone without an appointment will be turned away. You can also call your doctor, but a doctor’s reference is not necessary to use the hotline. Please note that this center is for diagnostic tests only, not for antibody tests.
The drive-through testing center at Glen Island will remain in operation, but the new Lockwood walk-in site is intended to be much more accessible to the neighborhoods that have been hardest hit by COVID-19. Those who need transportation to the new center can obtain a free ride through the City’s CircuitNR electric shuttle, which can be accessed by downloading the Ride Circuit app to a smartphone.
The center will be staffed by the exceptional health care team at Montefiore, who deserve enormous gratitude for their heroic service. And, of course, I extend thanks to Governor Cuomo and our State legislative delegation, especially Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, for ensuring that testing is available to New Rochelle on an equitable basis.
