Penn Access will connect New Rochelle to the West Side of Manhattan . . . and to Amazon’s HQ2 in Long Island City.

Amazon will be splitting their second national headquarters between two locations: Arlington, VA and Long Island City in Queens — and that’s very good news for New Rochelle.

Why?  When Penn Access is completed in a few years, Metro-North’s New Haven line will pass directly through Long Island City en route to Penn Station.  And which suburban train station will be closest to Long Island City (and the West Side of Manhattan), and most conveniently positioned for commuters, including Amazon’s tech workers?  You guessed it: New Rochelle.

Penn Access was already a big selling point for New Rochelle’s ambitious downtown development efforts.  With Amazon’s move to Long Island City, that big selling point becomes even bigger.
