The inspiring moral leadership of students from Parkland, Florida illustrates the capacity of young people to shape our nation for the better. And when it comes to impacting public affairs, nothing is more fundamental than registering to vote and casting a ballot. #MayorsForOurLives
Today, September 25th, is National Voter Registration Day, so mayors across the country are linking arms with educators to encourage students to get registered. Here in New Rochelle, I am proud to stand with the leadership of our School District, Iona College, the College of New Rochelle, Monroe College, and Ursuline School — as well as the League of Women Voters — all of which are making registration forms available and urging eligible students to become voters. I’ll be visiting several campuses today to help personally with the registration drive and speak with students.
This push is entirely non-partisan. So whether you’re a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent, whether you are liberal, conservative, or moderate, our message is that everyone should participate.
There’s more information in this press release and in this link to Mayors for Our Lives, of which I am proud to be a part. And if you need to register, here’s a link to the Board of Elections, where you can download a form in English or Spanish.
