This excellent interview about city planning caught my eye over the weekend. The upshot: development in urban areas delivers a host of important economic, environmental, and public health benefits, but needs to be designed thoughtfully in order to earn public support.
I am proud that New Rochelle’s ambitious downtown plan — with its emphasis on high-quality design, community benefit bonuses, workforce housing requirements, and walkability — meets the tests in the article.
