I just recorded and sent the following message City-wide from our Emergency Operations Center.  Damage is very extensive throughout the region, and this will be a long recovery.

This is the City of New Rochelle with important information about storm recovery.

There are several thousand power outages in New Rochelle. In addition, many traffic lights are inoperable and many streets are blocked with fallen trees. Avoid travel if possible and exercise caution on the road.

Report all power outages to Con Ed at 1-800-75-CONED or online at www.coned.com. Treat all downed power lines as live and stay clear.  Report downed trees to the New Rochelle Police Desk at 914-654-2300.

If you are using a generator, make sure it is outside and properly ventilated.

City and Con Ed crews will be working round the clock to clear obstructions, but damage is very extensive throughout the region and this will be a long recovery, with full power restoration to all locations likely to take many days. Those without power should plan for the worst and make alternative arrangements.

Additional information will follow, as warranted.

This have been Mayor Noam Bramson. Thank you for listening.
