French citizens in La Rochelle honor America.
As we honor America’s veterans today, it is worth remembering that 2017 marks the hundredth anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War I. (Veterans Day began as Armistice Day, which commemorated the end of that conflict.)

The American flag flies over La Rochelle, France.
To observe the occasion, New Rochelle has sent a delegation to La Rochelle, France — our sister city — where the weekend is filled with observances of this important historical event, and also filled with gratitude for the American soldiers whose arrival in 1917 turned the tide of the war.
Thank you to all who serve — past, present, and future.
