Immigrants have contributed immeasurably to the strength, vitality, and character of our city, but have often been under-represented in civic decision-making. Especially at a time of heightened sensitivity to the issues surrounding immigration, it is important for the needs and interests of immigrants to be recognized and addressed in New Rochelle.
That’s why I am announcing today the formation of an Advisory Committee on Immigrant Affairs (ACIA), a non-partisan group of volunteers from a cross-section of backgrounds, who will provide guidance to me and other interested local leaders. You can read more in this press release. (Or read the release in Spanish.)
As a first step, the ACIA is helping to circulate information about the DACA program in English and Spanish.
