Coming soon to New Rochelle?
The New Rochelle City Council is considering legislation that would permit the production of craft beverages, such as beer, cider, and wine, within certain downtown zones. To quote a supporting memo from our Department of Development:
“Breweries and related uses have now proliferated with a flexible business model, including space for on-site retail sales, consumption, entertainment, as well as a variety of dining options . . . With certain parameters in place, there uses can be quite appropriate in a downtown area and can greatly contribute to the economy, vitality, and sense of identity for a city.”
Sounds good to me.
A public hearing on the proposed zoning change is scheduled for July 11th.
