As our downtown development efforts kick into high gear, it’s vital that new investments translate into good jobs and career opportunities for New Rochelle residents.  That’s the idea behind our First Source job training program.

Partnering with Westhab and STRIVE, the City aims to provide skills assessments, followed by job training, readiness, and placement.  As Ayanna Wayner, New Rochelle’s Deputy Commissioner of Economic Development, puts it, “unlike the majority of local hiring initiatives, First Source’s extensive program not only puts individuals in touch with potential employers, but offers the necessary certification and training to adequately prepare job seekers for job opportunities, creating not just jobs, but careers.”

First Source is funded through a community benefit agreement with developers at no cost to taxpayers.
