Big storm on its way. I just recorded the following emergency robocall:
This is an important blizzard advisory from the City of New Rochelle.
A snow emergency is in effect beginning midnight tonight. Please avoid any unnecessary travel.
Wherever possible, please move cars off-street to assist with snow removal. Metered parking will be free at the Transit Center and New Roc garages beginning 5:00pm today until further notice.
Garbage collection is cancelled on Tuesday in the south end and cancelled on Thursday in the north end. Wednesday’s city-wide recycling pickup has been rescheduled to Thursday. Then garbage pickup in the south end will resume as scheduled on Friday. I repeat: there is no garbage or recycling pickup either tomorrow or Wednesday. City-wide recycling pickup will occur on Thursday. South end garbage pickup on Friday.
If you lose power, contact Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED or online at www.coned.com. Report downed trees to the New Rochelle Police Desk at 914-654-2300.
After the storm, please clear any fire hydrants near your property. And when digging out cars, please do not shovel snow back into the road.
Additional bulletins will follow as needed. And for more information, please visit www.newrochelleny.com.
This has been Mayor Noam Bramson. Thank you for listening and stay safe.
