There are many great reasons to weatherize your home: save money on energy costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and be more comfortable year-round (including on the day after a major winter storm.)  And this is a perfect time to act, because New Rochelle has established a citizen committee — called EnergyNR — that is ready to help.

EnergyNR can provide information about incentives and about professional resources that enable residents to implement home improvements affordably.   You can access free or reduced-cost home energy assessments, as well as low-cost financing.  The expense of improvements can typically be paid back through lower electric or gas bills, so the savings begin from day one.

EnergyNR’s citizen volunteers, representing a cross-section of neighborhoods, will work closely with the City’s Sustainability Director and with a regional organization called EnergizeNY.

To get started with a home energy efficiency assessment, please contact Lauren Brois at 914-302-7300 ext. 8102 or sign up online at  Meanwhile, members of EnergyNR will be visiting various neighborhoods in the months ahead to share information about their own positive experiences.
