New Rochelle’s ambitious downtown development plan will create thousands of jobs over the next decade.  To help residents take advantage of these new opportunities – and also acquire long-term career skills – the City is creating a First Source Referral Center.

The First Source Referral Center will work with developers, construction trades, labor unions, and – most importantly – New Rochelle residents to create a pipeline that links job training to placement in specific positions.  There’s more information and background in this memo.

An initial information session about opportunities in construction has already been scheduled for this Wednesday, February 15th.  This flyer has the details.

The First Source Referral Center will be managed by Westhab, a highly-regarded regional not-for-profit, and funded by payments from developers.  It’s all part of our commitment to ensuring that the benefits of economic development are shared as broadly and equitably as possible.
