Mayor Noam Bramson with the WCA’s Bill Mooney.
Westchester’s major cities are teaming up with the Westchester County Association (“WCA”) to bring super-speed broadband to our region.
By bundling the demand of several cities, we can compete more effectively for investment in digital infrastructure – and that, in turn, will position our communities to attract the jobs and residents of tomorrow.
The goal: providing widely available high-speed connectivity of about one gigabit per second. That’s roughly 200 times faster than the typical broadband speed in the United States — enough to download 25 songs in less than one second, or download a feature-length, 2-hour, high-definition movie in 16 seconds.
This initiative is fully consistent with New Rochelle’s ongoing, ambitious efforts to revitalize our downtown, so I thank the WCA for bringing us together and look forward to pursuing this exciting and important opportunity.
