New Rochelle City Hall was buzzing with a little more excitement than usual yesterday morning, as several New York Yankees paid a visit. On hand were Nathan Eovaldi, Brett Gardner, Nick Goody, Chase Headley, Brian McCann, and Mark Teixeira – plus their former teammate (and more familiar New Rochelle presence) Mariano Rivera.
But the real star of the show was Jake Gallin, an eighth-grader at Albert Leonard who created Stars for Cars to support Blue and Gold Star families. Jake is a remarkable and inspiring youngster, whose work demonstrates that you can make a real difference at any age.
The Yankees honored Jake as part of their “Hope Week” and also made a $10,000 contribution to the USO in his name. You can buy a star and help our military families by visiting the Stars for Cars website.
Congratulations, Jake!
