Healthy communities are multi-generational. Just as it is vital to attract younger residents to come to our city, so, too, it is important give older residents a good reason to stay.
That’s what “aging in place” is all about – a combination of services, activities, housing options, and infrastructure that make it possible – and appealing – for people to retire close to friends, family, and social connections built over a lifetime.
In recent months, local volunteers created a new organization dedicated to this mission: New Rochelle Cares. From providing safe rides to medical appointments, to providing guidance on home technology, to offering information about adult education programming, and much more, New Rochelle Cares can give our senior population the tools and support to remain here – and we all benefit as a result.
