Yogis of every age and experience level are invited to a special afternoon of outdoor yoga at New Rochelle’s Library Green.
The “Solstice on the Green” happens on Saturday, June 20th, with registration beginning at 2:30pm at the Library Green entrance on the corner of Lawton and Huguenot, and then a special yoga class, guided by experienced instructors, following from 3:30pm to 5:00pm.
All proceeds from the $10 donation will help create a yoga and wellness program at the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle.
Participants are also encouraged to upload yoga photos to Instagram and tag them #wyasolstice.
This summer solstice celebration is co-sponsored by Westchester Yoga Arts, the Downtown Business Improvement District, and the New Rochelle Department of Parks & Recreation, with great support from many local restaurants and other businesses.
Now, I will admit that yoga is not really my thing. I am more into eating, so I’ll probably be at Library Green a little earlier in the day to enjoy the weekly Farmers Market.
But I hope those who are a little more flexible than me (physically and mentally) will take advantage of this opportunity to have fun, get fit, support our downtown, and contribute to a good cause.
