The City is resuming efforts to produce an updated Comprehensive Plan, with a public information session set for May 6th. Here are the meeting details:
Wednesday, May 6th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm
2 Clinton Place, 2nd Floor (Offices of Cross Cultural Solutions)
In local government lingo, a Comprehensive Plan lays out a strategic vision for growth, development, and preservation, with a primary focus on land use. It should be consistent with previously approved documents, like our Sustainability Plan, and help inform future choices related to zoning and infrastructure.
The City began updating New Rochelle’s Comprehensive Plan a couple of years ago, but the initiative was put on temporary hold. Now, with a new State grant in hand to pay for vital consulting services, we can get moving again – building on the input already received.
The timing may actually prove beneficial, because the updated Comprehensive Plan can now be linked to our ambitious downtown renewal goals. The two should go hand in hand.
There’s a little more information about the May 6th meeting in this flyer. Public participation is important, so drop by if you are interested and have the time.
