New Rochelle’s City government and School District are taking a closer look at potential shared services that might cut costs and promote efficiency.
Here’s a memo from City Manager Chuck Strome providing an update on this priority. The most promising opportunities for enhanced cooperation include (1) sanitation services, (2) technology and information systems, and (3) playing field maintenance and scheduling.
This isn’t a new topic — the City and School District have long worked together on things like tax collection and, more recently, on student enrollment projections. The difference is that we are now exploring a wider range of options, with strong encouragement from the leadership of both institutions.
