“Bart Gets an F” – Season Two
I just sent the following emergency message city-wide:
This is the City of New Rochelle. A snow emergency will be in effect beginning 4pm today. A major storm is forecast to bring about two feet of snow to our region, with the heaviest fall beginning this evening and continuing through tomorrow. Here’s what you need to know:
Garbage pickup on Tuesday and recycling pickup on Wednesday are cancelled. Please remove cans or materials from the curb to clear the way for plows.
Move parked cars off the street and from open lots. On snow emergency routes, cars will be towed. If you don’t have other options, parking will be free in the New Roc City garage on levels 1 through 4 until noon Wednesday.
With high winds, there is a risk of power outages. If you lose power or to report a downed power line, contact Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED or www.coned.com. Never touch a downed power line.
If you use a generator, make sure it is properly vented to avoid carbon monoxide buildup – never place it inside your home or garage. And do not use the stove to heat your home.
For emergencies involving life, health, or safety, call 9-1-1. Do not call emergency services for any other purpose.
City crews will be working round the clock, but many roads, especially secondary and tertiary roads, may be impassable for a long time. Please plan accordingly, stay home, and avoid unnecessary travel. And also check in on elderly or infirm neighbors.
Non-essential City offices will be closed tomorrow.
