It describes the remarkable story of Justus Uwayesu, who lost his family in the genocide in Rwanda, then overcame astonishing deprivation as an abandoned orphan to enroll this year as a freshman at Harvard.
Justus was guided by Clare Effiong, the New Rochelle resident who founded the organization Esther’s Aid. I am very proud to know both Clare and Justus – they are extraordinary people, and the obstacles they have surmounted help us all to put our own personal challenges in the proper perspective.
