An Image of Twining’s Proposal.
Following presentations from four development teams last month, the City has selected a new partner to help us revitalize the Echo Bay waterfront: Twining Properties. You can read more about Twining’s proposal and professional experience in the official press release.
At the City Council’s direction, our staff will now negotiate the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with Twining, the first major step in defining the parameters of a development deal. Many more steps must follow before a shovel can be put in the ground.
Recent experience has shown that the challenges at Echo Bay are large, but I believe the positive potential is larger and worth the effort. If we are successful in transforming the Echo Bay shore into a vibrant public space, then our economy, environment, and civic image will all benefit.
