Rob Astorino just became the first major candidate in recent memory to skip the Journal News’ standard joint editorial board interviews. In addition to being virtually unprecedented in its own right, this is also the sixth debate or joint appearance that Rob Astorino has refused in recent weeks.
“We’re extremely disappointed in Rob Astorino’s unprecedented refusal to stand up and debate the issues in this election,” said Bramson Campaign Manager Jeremy Sherber. “It’s difficult for any candidate to defend the kinds of smears and outrageous rhetoric Rob and his supporters have routinely employed on the campaign trail – everything from packing five lies about Noam’s tax record into one ad, to calling Noam a racist, to saying being pro-choice is the same as being pro-infanticide – but as County Executive Rob owes it to his constituents to allow them to make an informed decision in this election.”
