New Rochelle Mayor and Democratic, Independence, and Working Families Party candidate for Westchester County Executive Noam Bramson issued the following statement this morning on the federal government shutdown.
“House Republicans have put their Tea Party ideology ahead of the interests of the nation. Unfortunately, the same extremism has been evident here in Westchester under Rob Astorino,” said Bramson. “Just like House Republicans, Astorino has pursued a right-wing Tea Party agenda that has harmed Westchester’s families — cutting child care and neighborhood health centers for working parents, waging losing battles over housing and environmental standards that have cost us millions, opposing common sense gun safety laws, and rejecting the rights of women. Rob Astorino is the ideological clone of the House Republicans, and Westchester deserves better in our County Executive.”
