The pavillion at New Rochelle’s Hudson Park got a pick-me-up on a gray day this week when employees of Heineken USA spent a day re-painting the gazebo and putting fresh stain on the sun shelter.

The community service day is a tradition at Heineken USA, where employees from the corporate headquarters in White Plains are encouraged to volunteer for various projects in the area.

Parks and Recreation Commissioner Bill Zimmerman estimated that the work put in by volunteers saved the city more than $15,000, a big number during tight financial times.
