New Rochelle resident and author Jeff Pearlman has received nation-wide acclaim for his outstanding sports writing. His current book “Sweetness: The Enigmatic Life of Walter Payton” landed on the cover of Sports Illustrated. He’s written previously about the Dallas Cowboys, Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, and the New York Mets. I’m not really much of a sports guy, but I still love Jeff’s books. Always insightful, original and funny.

(Full disclosure: Jeff and his wife Catherine are personal friends. Their kids are about the same age as Jeremy and Owen, and they throw a great Halloween Party, among many other things.)

What prompted me to write this post — in addition to hawking Jeff’s latest book and helping to promote our local New Rochelle talent — was this great little video entry in Jeff’s blog. His irreverent sense of humor is on full display and easy to spot. But you have to watch very carefully for the unexpected cameo appearance by a local political figure. (It’s at about 3:18 in the video.)

Enjoy. And if you have any interest in sports, get the book.
