Summer may seem a long way off, but it’s not too early to begin planning an enriching experience for the kids.
Continuing a long tradition, the New Rochelle Department of Parks and Recreation will organize camps for youngsters, beginning on July 5 and running through August 12. The City’s programs serve two age ranges:
- The Day Camp is for children who have completed kindergarten but not yet entered sixth grade, and will be held at both Ward and Jefferson Schools. Activities include sports, swimming, games, crafts, performing arts, nature instruction, and day trips.
- The Preschool Camp is for children ages 3 to 5 years. It will feature arts and crafts, music, movement skills, language, literature, indoor and outdoor play, and weekly themed activities. The Preschool Camp is a half-day program held at Webster School.
Applications are being accepted until all spots are filled, with a small tuition discount for applications received before May 27. Limited financial assistance is also available, but must be applied for in person at the Parks and Recreation Office in City Hall.
