The analysis of large projects begins with adoption of a “scoping document” that establishes the parameters of an environmental review. This week, the City Council voted unanimously to adopt a scoping document for Iona’s proposed dormitory on Mayflower Avenue.

The scoping document was previously circulated in a draft form with an invitation for public comment. The final version includes numerous changes and additions, based on suggestions from residents and Council Members.

Approval of the scoping document does not imply either support for or opposition to the dormitory itself. Instead, it signals the Council’s determination to evaluate project impacts thoroughly prior to making any judgments.
