To help celebrate and honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s great legacy, the Volunteer Center is organizing its first-ever MLK Day of Service, with a variety of projects throughout Westchester and Putnam counties, including three here in New Rochelle:

  • Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle: Volunteers are needed to clean out and prepare one of the buildings for the agency’s new Kids Café and Club renovation.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Mural Project: Volunteers will paint a MLK-inspired mural.
  • New Rochelle Public Library: Volunteers will participate in a “shifting” of books to alleviate overcrowding of shelves.

Take a look at the full list of volunteer opportunities to decide which project best fits your ability and interests.

The City of New Rochelle has been proud to partner with the Volunteer Center on many occasions and maintains a permanent link on the City website to their volunteer matching system, which helps match volunteers with non-profit organizations. You can use that system to find worthwhile volunteer opportunities at any time.
