The City of New Rochelle is in the early stages of drafting a new Comprehensive Plan. Our existing Comprehensive Plan is fifteen years old and needs to be refreshed to better reflect current circumstances and opportunities.
In general, municipal Comprehensive Plans examine land use, transportation, infrastructure, and development priorities and often serve as a foundation for subsequent amendments to the local zoning code, capital investments, and economic development initiatives.
Public input is, of course, essential to ensuring that our new Comprehensive Plan reflects the values and priorities of the community.
With this background, citizens of the West End are invited to an open public meeting on Saturday, November 6th from 2:00pm to 3:30pm at the Casa Calabria (81 Union Avenue). Our planning team would like to hear from residents and businesses in the area, and will welcome both positive and negative comments, as well as suggestions for future improvements.
A second meeting is planned for Friday, December 3rd from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at Columbus Elementary School’s “Discovery Room” at 275 Washington Avenue.
With questions or for more information, please call Joan McCallion at 914-654-2190. And please spread the word to friends and neighbors in the West End.
