With Thanksgiving behind us, it’s time right away for the December holidays. New Rochelle’s downtown is the place to celebrate and to shop for all your holiday needs.

If you’re looking for creative gifts for friends and family, don’t miss the second annual Holiday Arts & Crafts Market sponsored by the New Rochelle BID. Local artists and craftspeople will be displaying their jewelry, paintings, ceramics, glassware, woodcraft, and more at BID Gallery 249, located at 249 North Avenue. The Market is open Saturdays and Sundays, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, through December 19.

In addition, the annual inter-denominational Holiday Lighting Ceremony, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the BID, will take place this Thursday, December 2 at Memorial Plaza (corner of Main Street and Memorial Highway). Holiday caroling begins at 5:30 pm, observances of Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa follow at 6:00 pm, and a visit from the North Pole will wrap up the event in good cheer at 6:30 pm. Bring the family.
