We all have a stake in the health of New Rochelle’s business community and should make an effort to reinvest our spending power back into the local economy. In this spirit, I am delighted to team up with the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce to ask residents to spend “20 on the 20th.”

So what does that mean? Well, on Saturday, November 20th, New Rochelle’s Valenti Thanksgiving Parade returns, with thousands expected to line the parade route along North Avenue and Main Street. In conjunction with this beloved community event, we are encouraging parade attendees and all residents of New Rochelle to spend at least $20 at a local business.

At the same time, in a letter to its members, the Chamber is encouraging businesses to post “20 on the 20th” signs in their storefronts and to offer discounts or other incentives to shoppers. For example, restaurants can offer $20 three-course prix fixe meals.

The Thanksgiving Parade begins at 10:00am at Eastchester Road, by the Huguenot Children’s Library and Jack’s Friendship Garden. And don’t forget the Pancake Breakfast from 8:00am to 9:30am, sponsored by the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence, in the cafeteria of the new wing of New Rochelle High School. Hope to see you there.
