We typically discuss economic development and infrastructure objectives in terms of local New Rochelle projects. While local initiatives are critical, New Rochelle’s fortunes are also linked to those of our region as whole. Until now, regional integration has not received the focused attention it requires.

To better pursue regional objectives related to transportation, smart growth and job creation, New Rochelle has joined a consortium of cities, counties and planning organizations that stretch from Manhattan to New Haven. This unprecedented effort will provide for better strategic coordination and for enhanced access to federal funding. We have already applied for a grant that is jointly administrated by the Department of Housing & Urban Development, the Department of Transportation, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
