Project Will Greatly Improve Key City Arterial
Lincoln Avenue is among New Rochelle’s chief east-west arterials. It is also a gateway to neighborhoods that are home to thousands of residents. Plans to repair and modernize Lincoln Avenue have been under development for several years, and have also evolved significantly in response to community input, so that the project design now features more green space, traffic calming elements, and flood control infrastructure.
This week, the City moved a giant step closer to commencement of this project by approving a construction bid from Bilotta Construction Corporation. The price tag is $5.1 million, but fortunately, more than 90% of the bill is expected to be covered by federal and state grants, providing local taxpayers with a terrific return on our (relatively modest) contribution to the overall project cost.
