“Tidal Song” Is New Rochelle’s Latest Example of Public Art

Following a national competition with scores of entrants, the City Council, Municipal Arts Commission, and Cappelli Enterprises have together selected “Tidal Song,” a work by noted artist Catherine Widgery, as the public art installation for the Trump Plaza pedestrian bridge. Composed of a series of stained glass panels arranged in a wave-like pattern, tidal-song will gently pulse with light, and will also respond interactively to movement on the bridge with both a visual and auditory response. It makes for a very interesting combination of soothing natural form in a design that relates to its urban and high-tech surroundings. The full cost of the installation, some $200,000, is paid for by Cappelli Enterprises.
