Tasting At Library Set For October 26th, From 6:00pm to 8:00pm

On October 26th, 2007 from 6 to 8 pm at the New Rochelle Public Library, our community will come together to have a first-of-its-kind Pot Luck Dinner — The New Rochelle Cultural Fest.

This festival, sponsored by the New Rochelle Committee on Cultural Diversity, will give residents a “taste” of the many cuisines our residents have to offer. Part treat and part education, this event is designed to promote increased respect and understanding of our diverse groups by finding commonality in our love of food. Additional information is available on the flyer HERE.

In addition, home cooks are invited to make a dish and share it with the community. Each cook would be asked to prepare a dish, served at room temperature in tastings for about 25 people. He or she will also be asked to explain to tasters the ingredients, how to use them, and where to find them here in New Rochelle (along with any other interesting and relevant history). The library will supply each contributor with a table, as well as paper goods for serving.

If you or someone you know would like to provide a dish for this event, please contact organizer Arlen Gargagliano by October 4th. Be sure to include your name, daytime and evening telephone number, name of your dish, and origin of your dish.

I’ll be there on October 26th with a big appetite!
