Discounts On Fluorescent Bulbs Available At Modern Hardware — 316 Huguenot Street

The Environmental Protection Agency has designated October 3rd as Change A Light Day. As part of our broader effort to be more environmentally sensitive, the City intends to change roughly ninety incandescent light bulbs at City Hall with new efficient fluorescent bulbs. In addition, we have reached out to major community institutions, such as our colleges and schools, to encourage a similar switch to energy efficient lighting.

Energy Star-qualified light bulbs use about 75% less energy and last roughly ten times longer than standard bulbs. Each bulb saves more than $30 in energy costs over its lifetime and prevents about 400 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions.

The public is invited to join us in the switch. Modern Hardware at 316 Huguenot Street, a local business with a long history in New Rochelle, has agreed to offer a 33% discount on fluorescent bulb five-packs, beginning on October 3rd and continuing through the entire month of October. Each bulb replaces a standard 60 watt incandescent unit. The discounted cost for each five-pack will be about $10 — a great deal that leads to savings of almost $200 — and an easy way to help our environment.
