Installation Will Be Affixed To Trump Plaza Pedestrian Bridge

Cultural vitality is an essential part of any healthy, livable community. The City Council is working to ensure that economic growth in our downtown is paired with greater attention to culture, especially public art. We took a major first step with the installation of “Tapestry of New Rochelle” at the New Rochelle Transit Center, and now we plan to take a second step on Huguenot Street, where Trump Plaza will be linked to the New Roc City garage via a pedestrian bridge suspended above the road. Under an agreement concluded this month, the Trump Plaza developers will provide $200,000 for a major new work of public art that will be installed on the bridge exterior. Artists and submissions will be reviewed through a competitive process and a winner selected by the Municipal Arts Commission, City Council, and Cappelli Enterprises.
