State Public Service Commission Holds Hearing In New Rochelle
New Rochelle and our region have experienced widespread power outages this year, resulting principally, but not exclusively, from weather events. In some cases, New Rochelle residents have been left without power for days, often without any definitive information about repair plans and timetables. During such events, the City works diligently to respond to complaints, draw Con Ed’s attention to areas in need of service, and otherwise facilitate the flow of information, but we have no direct authority over utilities and are often frustrated by our inability to serve the public more effectively. Con Edison is overseen and regulated by the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC), which recently held a hearing in New Rochelle to review Con Ed’s performance and receive recommendations for improvements.
