Dozens Of Community Services Opportunities Now Posted On City Website

Yesterday afternoon the City of New Rochelle and The Volunteer Center of United Way teamed up to launch VOLUNTEER NEW ROCHELLE, a new initiative aimed at providing New Rochelle residents with enhanced opportunities to donate time and expertise to community needs.

From the City’s official website, it is now possible to learn about and sign up for a wide range of local volunteer opportunities. More than eighty projects and positions will typically be listed at any time, ranging from tutoring youngsters, to clearing nature trails, to assisting seniors, to serving meals. Some positions demand specific skills or training, but most require nothing more than a willingness to help, and many projects are especially appropriate for students or families.

The process is simple:

– Visit the New Rochelle website at www.newrochelleny.com

– Click on “Volunteer Now” in the Volunteer New Rochelle box in the upper left

– From the next webpage, click on “Become a Volunteer”

– Follow the Volunteer Center’s instruction for registration

– Examine volunteer options and sign-up

Never before has such a rich palette of service opportunities been available here in New Rochelle, and never before has it been so easy to link up with a community service project that matches one’s skills and interests, so I hope and believe that this program will be a great success.
