Opportunity To Contribute To Outstanding Community Project
New Rochelle’s rich artistic heritage is reflected in our unique entry signs, each created by prominent local artists and illustrators, such as Norman Rockwell. Images of nine of the ten signs can be viewed HERE. Although periodically maintained, the signs have fallen into significant disrepair since their original erection in 1932. Last year, a volunteer citizen group was established to fully restore the signs and to construct new poles that match the historic appearance of the deteriorated originals. The New Rochelle Municipal Arts Commission has assisted by offering suggestions on restoration style and methods. After thousands of hours of painstaking effort, the work is nearly complete, but additional funding is needed to finish the job. Please consider making a contribution to this outstanding project.
