Agreement Reached on Key Downtown Property
The Lecount Square project, featuring roughly 900,000 square feet of retail, residential, office, and hotel space will be, if approved, the most significant downtown development in New Rochelle’s history. This week, the City Council conducted three public hearings on various aspects of the project, and we will entertain additional public comments next month. In addition, the City was pleased to help facilitate an agreement between the principal developer of the site and the owners of one of the critical parcels included in the project area. This agreement averts a potential legal dispute and reaffirms the City’s desire that property transactions associated with economic development occur in a private consensual fashion whenever possible.
