I have become addicted to the ice pops at La Flor de Michoacan, located on Union Avenue, two blocks west of Webster Avenue, in New Rochelles West End. With more than fifty flavors of both dairy and non-dairy pops, all made fresh on-site, you can find everything from traditional flavors like Orange and Lemon-Lime, to off-beat options like Kiwi and Pine Nut, to the truly unusual such as Gazpacho (which is actually a combination of Pineapple, Mango, and Hot Pepper nearly inedible to my palate, but the only bad choice Ive encountered.) All feature generous chunks of frozen fresh fruit. My personal favorites are Blackberry, Grapefruit, Cactus Pear, and Prune (dont laugh until youve tried it.) Catie is partial to Coconut. La Flor de Michoacan has become even more popular since being profiled in the New York Times, so dont be surprised if you encounter a long line on a hot summer night.
